Janet Travell autographed commemorative cover honoring the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy as the 35th President of the United States. The cachet features a portrait of Kennedy alongside an image of the White House with printed text commemorating the January 20, 1961 inauguration. Travell has autographed the cover in dark ink across the lower portion, adding the title “M.D.” following her signature. Postmarked Washington, D.C., January 20, 1961, with an “Inauguration Day” cancellation.

Janet Travell (1901–1997) was a physician who served as personal doctor to President John F. Kennedy and later to President Lyndon B. Johnson. Appointed by Kennedy in 1961, she became the first woman to serve as Physician to the President. Travell was known for her treatment of Kennedy’s chronic back pain and contributed significantly to the development of myofascial pain and trigger point therapy.
