Evelyn Lincoln original 3.5 x 2.75” Kodachrome color snapshot photograph depicting Lincoln seated beneath a large patriotic bunting during a Kennedy campaign appearance in Tampa, Florida. The reverse is annotated in period pencil and ink, identifying the location and date as “Tampa, Nov. 18, 1963,” just four days before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The image is an unpublished personal photograph.

Taken during President Kennedy’s final political trip before his journey to Texas, this candid photograph captures one of the individuals closest to the president during his years in public office. The notation on the reverse places the image during Kennedy’s Florida visit of November 18, 1963, one of the last campaign-style appearances of his presidency. Such informal photographs from the final week of the Kennedy administration are uncommon and provide a more personal glimpse into the people who traveled with and supported the president behind the scenes.

Evelyn Lincoln (1909–1995) served as John F. Kennedy’s personal secretary for more than a decade and was among his most trusted aides. She worked closely with Kennedy from his Senate years through his presidency, managing schedules, correspondence, and daily operations within the White House. Following Kennedy’s assassination, Lincoln became an important custodian of his legacy and authored several books recounting her experiences with the president and his administration.
