Details:
The Washington Post, Washington, D.C., November 23, 1963, complete issue reporting the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, preserved exactly as originally purchased and never removed from its original rolled newsprint wrapper. The visible headline, “President Kennedy Slain By Assassin,” appears prominently, while the remainder of the newspaper remains tightly rolled inside, preserving the paper in its original state as acquired over six decades ago.
Unlike examples that have been unfolded, handled, or stored flat, this remarkable survivor has remained sealed within its original period wrapper since the days immediately following the assassination. As a result, the interior pages have never been inspected by us and remain exactly as preserved by the original owner, offering collectors a unique time-capsule example of one of the most significant newspaper editions of the twentieth century.
Good condition overall with expected age toning, scattered creasing, small tears, and handling wear to the exterior wrapper. The newspaper remains tightly rolled and has not been unwrapped or examined internally.
The assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, shocked the nation and dominated newspaper front pages across the world. The November 23, 1963 edition of The Washington Post provided readers with comprehensive coverage of the tragedy, the early investigation, and the nation’s immediate response. Original, unrestored examples that have remained unopened in their original rolled newsprint wrappers are seldom encountered, preserving both the newspaper and its original method of distribution exactly as they existed in the days following one of the defining events of American history.
