Earl Warren autographed John F. Kennedy memorial First Day of Issue cover honoring the 1964 JFK 5¢ memorial stamp release. The cachet features a portrait of President Kennedy above a memorial inscription and his well-known inaugural quotation, “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” Warren has autographed the cover in blue ink across the lower right portion. Postmarked New York, New York, November 22, 1964, on the first anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination, with a block of four JFK memorial stamps affixed.

Earl Warren (1891–1974) served as Chief Justice of the United States from 1953 to 1969. Appointed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Warren presided over several landmark Supreme Court decisions involving civil rights, criminal procedure, and public education. Following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he was appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson to chair the Warren Commission, the official investigation into the assassination.
