Earl Warren family Christmas card, an original illustrated holiday greeting card measuring approximately 16 x 7.5 inches when opened. Featuring a colorful Western-themed design, the card depicts Warren, his wife Nina, their children, and family pets in a playful frontier setting complete with stagecoach, cowboy attire, horses, candy canes, and festive holiday imagery. The front prominently proclaims, “You’re Covered!” while extending Christmas and New Year greetings from the Warren family.
The whimsical illustration portrays members of the Warren family as cartoon characters identified by name throughout the scene. Earl Warren appears dressed in cowboy attire alongside members of his family riding in a stagecoach marked “The Warrens,” while family pets and children participate in various humorous Western-themed activities. The card’s vibrant mid-century design and personalized artwork provide a rare glimpse into the private family life of one of the most influential political and judicial figures of the twentieth century.
Unlike official political correspondence, family Christmas cards such as this were intended for friends and associates and often reveal a more personal side of public figures. This example is especially appealing for its elaborate artwork, large format, and lighthearted depiction of the Warren family during the height of Earl Warren’s public career. Such privately issued holiday cards from nationally significant figures remain highly collectible and are seldom encountered.

Earl Warren (1891-1974) was an American statesman and jurist who served as Governor of California from 1943 to 1953 before becoming Chief Justice of the United States from 1953 to 1969. As Chief Justice, he presided over a transformative era in American constitutional law, including landmark decisions involving civil rights, voting rights, criminal procedure, and public education. Following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, Warren was appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson to chair the Warren Commission, the official body responsible for investigating the assassination. The Commission’s findings became one of the most influential and debated reports in American history, permanently linking Warren’s legacy to the Kennedy assassination and its aftermath.
