6 x 6” 33⅓ RPM flexi-disc record issued by Gallery Magazine in 1979 and titled “The Historic Recording of the JFK Assassination ‘Gunshots’ Evidence That Destroyed the Lone Assassin Theory!” The disc features a narrated presentation by assassination researcher Gary Mack, whose work on the Dallas police dictabelt recording helped bring renewed attention to the acoustic evidence considered by the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations. The record was distributed as a special promotional item and marketed as a “Gallery Exclusive.”
Very good condition. The flexible record exhibits a light vertical crease through the center right.
During the late 1970s, renewed public interest in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy led to extensive investigation by the House Select Committee on Assassinations. Among the most debated pieces of evidence was an audio recording believed by some researchers to capture the sounds of gunfire in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963. This unusual flexi-disc was produced amid that renewed scrutiny and represents a fascinating period artifact from the continuing public debate surrounding one of the most studied events in American history.
