Robert F. Kennedy (1925–1968) served as United States Attorney General from 1961 to 1964 and as U.S. Senator from New York from 1965 until his assassination in 1968. Launching his presidential campaign amid growing national unrest, Kennedy inspired millions with his calls for civil rights, social justice, and an end to the Vietnam War. His campaign was tragically cut short following his victory in the California Democratic primary on June 5, 1968, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential political figures of the twentieth century.
