Robert F. Kennedy original 3.5 x 3.5” color snapshot photograph depicting Senator Kennedy standing with three supporters outside a Washington, D.C. building, accompanied by a printed Joan Kennedy thank-you card issued following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The reverse of the photograph is identified in period handwriting as “Senator R. F. Kennedy” and dated June 3, 1965, Washington, D.C., with the names of the individuals pictured. The accompanying card bears Joan Kennedy’s printed message expressing appreciation for the thoughts, prayers, and encouragement received by the Kennedy family.
The photograph exhibits a horizontal bisecting crease just above the heads of the subjects. The Joan Kennedy card remains well preserved.
Robert F. Kennedy (1925–1968) served as U.S. Attorney General under his brother President John F. Kennedy before being elected to the United States Senate from New York in 1964. Widely admired for his advocacy on civil rights, poverty, and social justice issues, he became one of the most influential political figures of his generation.
