Oleg Cassini (1913-2006) was among the most celebrated fashion designers of the twentieth century. After beginning his career in Europe and later designing costumes for Hollywood films, Cassini established himself as a leading American designer. He achieved international fame as the principal designer for Jacqueline Kennedy during her years as First Lady, creating many of the elegant ensembles that defined the celebrated “Jackie Look.” His designs helped shape American fashion in the early 1960s and remain among the most recognizable garments associated with the Kennedy White House.
Joseph Boccheir served as a Design Coordinator for Oleg Cassini Inc., and original working sketches from the Cassini studio provide a unique behind-the-scenes record of the development of couture fashion during the Kennedy era. These unpublished concept drawings, preserved from Cassini’s personal estate, represent an uncommon opportunity to acquire original studio material directly connected to the designer whose work became inseparably linked with Jacqueline Kennedy’s enduring visual legacy.
