John F. Kennedy vintage 8 x 11” black-and-white wire service photograph depicting a reconstruction of the assassination scene as it may have appeared through the rifle scope of Lee Harvey Oswald. The image shows the presidential limousine from above with a superimposed crosshair target, illustrating the approximate vantage point from the Texas School Book Depository during the events of November 22, 1963.
The lower margin retains its original wire service caption, reading in part: “WHAT THE ASSASSIN MIGHT HAVE SEEN—This is the approximate view the assassin of President Kennedy might have seen…” noting that the scene was reconstructed and photographed with a long lens to simulate the telescopic sight of the rifle. Credited as an AP Wirephoto and dated to accompany coverage tied to the Warren Report.
