And It Must Not Stop,” containing the text of the address President Kennedy was scheduled to deliver at the Texas Welcome Dinner at the Municipal Auditorium in Austin, Texas, on the evening of November 22, 1963. Produced as a presentation-style folio, the piece opens to reveal Kennedy’s prepared remarks in full. The cover prominently notes that the speech was intended for delivery on November 22, 1963, while the interior contains the complete text of the address. Following Kennedy’s assassination earlier that day in Dallas, the speech was never delivered, making this an important surviving artifact from the final day of his presidency.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy (1917-1963), the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963, while traveling through the state on a political trip intended to strengthen support for his reelection campaign. After appearances in San Antonio, Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas, Kennedy was scheduled to continue to Austin where he was to attend the Texas Welcome Dinner and deliver the speech reproduced in this folio. As a result, the address became one of Kennedy’s most notable undelivered speeches. The text reflects many of the major themes of the Kennedy administration, including economic growth, education, national defense, space exploration, and America’s expanding role in world affairs.
