The candid image captures the family arriving at a horse show, reflecting the well-known equestrian interests shared by several members of the Kennedy family.

The original UPI news caption affixed to the reverse identifies the group and notes that the photograph was taken on May 2, 1971, as they arrived to compete in a horse show. The reverse also retains period editorial markings and Photofest archive labels.
