J.C. Day original 8 x 10” Associated Press wirephoto depicting the Dallas Police Department identification officer carrying the Italian-made Mannlicher-Carcano rifle used in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The photograph was taken outside the Texas School Book Depository shortly after the weapon was recovered and processed by authorities following the events of November 22, 1963. The original AP caption remains affixed along the lower margin, identifying Day and describing the weapon as the rifle that fired the shots which killed President Kennedy.
Fine condition.
The reverse bears the original Associated Press Wirephoto ownership stamp and publication notice. The image is dated December 5, 1963, for advance release in connection with a national news story on the Kennedy assassination investigation.
J.C. Day served as an identification officer with the Dallas Police Department and was among the key forensic personnel involved in processing evidence related to the assassination of President John F.
