Details:
John J. McCloy autograph collection consisting of a one-page typed letter signed "John J. McCloy” dated January 10, 1980, together with two autographed covers. The letter, written on McCloy’s personal letterhead from One Chase Manhattan Plaza, New York, is addressed to autograph collector Stephen H. Rugg and references the return of signed First Day Covers and newspaper headline pages. Included with the letter are two signed covers, one commemorating President John F. Kennedy and bearing a “Warren Commission” marking, and a second signed inaugural-themed cover.
McCloy was one of the most influential American statesmen of the twentieth century, serving in numerous high-level government and advisory positions across multiple presidential administrations. Following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he was appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson to serve on the Warren Commission, the panel charged with investigating Kennedy’s death. The included Kennedy-themed cover and Warren Commission association make this group particularly appealing for collectors of Kennedy and assassination-related material.
Fine condition overall.

His signature is highly sought after by collectors of presidential, diplomatic, Cold War, and Kennedy-era historical material.
