Details:
John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy original 7 x 5” color photograph depicting the presidential motorcade traveling along Main Street in downtown Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963, just moments before the assassination. President Kennedy is seen acknowledging the enthusiastic crowds while Mrs. Kennedy, dressed in her now-iconic pink suit and pillbox hat, sits beside him. Texas Governor John Connally and First Lady Nellie Connally occupy the front seat as spectators line the street to greet the presidential party during what would become the final public motorcade of Kennedy’s life.
This remarkable original photograph captures one of the final moments of President Kennedy’s life as the presidential limousine proceeds through downtown Dallas shortly before reaching Dealey Plaza. Notations on the reverse identify the image as having been taken on November 22, 1963, and further note that it was “probably one of the last color photos made - one minute before tragedy - Main St., just north of Lamar.”
Overall in good condition with some scattered light surface impressions and dings.
The notation on the verso originates from Jerry Stover, Communications Industries, Dallas, Texas, whose handwritten identification appears on the reverse of the photograph. His accompanying inscription records the location as Main Street just north of Lamar on November 22, 1963, immediately preceding the events in Dealey Plaza.
