John F. Kennedy White House “The President’s Engagements” memo sheet dated Wednesday, August 7, 1963, measuring approximately 5.75 x 9.25 inches. Printed on official White House memorandum stationery, the sheet outlines several meetings held during a pivotal period of the Kennedy administration.
The schedule includes a 10:00 a.m. meeting with representatives of the Citizens Committee for a Nuclear Test Ban, including James Wadsworth, Will Clayton, Walter Reuther, Marion Folsom, and Norman Cousins. Later appointments include a meeting with Dr. Neftalí Ponce-Miranda, Ambassador of Ecuador, followed by a noon meeting with Luther H. Hodges, Secretary of Commerce, and Joseph P. Routh, Chairman of the National Policy Conference. Coming just two days after the signing of the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty on August 5, 1963, the document reflects the administration’s continued engagement with one of the defining diplomatic achievements of Kennedy’s presidency.
