John F. Kennedy White House “The President’s Engagements” memo sheet dated Tuesday, October 15, 1963, measuring approximately 5.75 x 9.25 inches. Printed on official White House memorandum stationery, the sheet records a full day of President Kennedy’s scheduled appointments during the final weeks of his presidency.
The memo outlines an 8:45 a.m. breakfast with congressional leaders including Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Speaker John W. McCormack, Senators Mike Mansfield, Hubert H. Humphrey, and George Smathers, and Congressman Carl Albert. The day’s schedule continues with a 10:30 a.m. meeting with Talat al-Ghoussein, the newly appointed Ambassador of Kuwait, followed by an 11:40 a.m. arrival ceremony honoring Irish Prime Minister Seán Lemass and Mrs. Lemass. President Kennedy was also scheduled to meet privately with Prime Minister Lemass at 4:00 p.m. before hosting a State Dinner in their honor at the White House that evening.
