Elegantly dressed in formal evening attire, the couple is shown attending the star-studded celebration held on January 19, 1961, just hours before John F. Kennedy would take the oath of office as the 35th President of the United States.

The reverse retains the original Associated Press wirephoto caption identifying the image as being taken during the Inaugural Gala, noting that “about noon today John F.
