Details:
John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy collection of five original household receipts and charge slips dating from 1959 to 1961, documenting purchases made by the future President and First Lady during their Senate, campaign, and White House years. The group includes receipts addressed to John Kennedy at 3307 N Street in Washington, D.C., Palm Beach, Florida merchant receipts used during the family’s holiday stays, and a New York fashion receipt addressed to Mrs. John Kennedy at the White House.
Included are two 1959 Washington, D.C. hardware receipts addressed to John Kennedy, a December 1961 Atlantic Seafood Market receipt from West Palm Beach, a December 1961 Everglades Pharmacy receipt from Palm Beach, and a November 1961 Chez Ninon receipt documenting Jacqueline Kennedy’s purchase of a white wool coat, addressed to “Mrs. John Kennedy, The White House, Washington, D.C.”
These receipts offer a rare glimpse into the everyday lives of the Kennedy family, preserving routine household, fashion, and personal purchases that stand in contrast to the historic events that defined the Kennedy administration.
