John F. Kennedy memorial prayer card display featuring two original 1963 funeral prayer cards together with a rare unissued photographic proof sheet of four proposed prayer card portraits. Professionally mounted in a 12 x 16” presentation display and accompanied by the original Certificate of Authenticity issued by noted Kennedy collector Robert L. White.

According to the accompanying certificate, the display contains two official prayer cards selected by Jacqueline Kennedy and distributed at the doors of St. Matthew’s Cathedral to those attending President Kennedy’s funeral on November 25, 1963. The display also incorporates an original photographic proof sheet showing four cut-and-scored proposed prayer card images depicting President Kennedy in a pose that was ultimately not approved for use. No border was printed and no prayer text was applied to the reverse of these proof examples, making them a fascinating glimpse into the production process behind one of the most iconic pieces of presidential mourning ephemera ever created.

The certificate further states that the display was part of a limited edition of just 150 hand-numbered examples prepared by Robert L. White in 1997 to commemorate what would have been Kennedy’s 80th birthday. This example is numbered 96/150 and bears White’s signature as curator of The Kennedy Collection. White was widely regarded as one of the foremost Kennedy memorabilia collectors and researchers of his era.
