Fine condition.
President Kennedy visited Springfield, Illinois, on October 13, 1962, where he participated in ceremonies honoring Abraham Lincoln and visited the Lincoln Tomb at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The appearance came at a pivotal moment in Kennedy’s administration, just days before the onset of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Illinois Governor Otto Kerner Jr. and U.S. Senator Paul H. Douglas accompanied the President during portions of the visit, which drew significant public and press attention. Photographs from the event are particularly desirable as they document Kennedy at a landmark closely associated with one of the presidents he most admired.
