Best & Co. was one of America’s premier luxury department stores during the mid-20th century, serving many of the nation’s most prominent political and social families. These receipts originate from the famous White House household records maintained during the Kennedy administration and provide a fascinating glimpse into the day-to-day personal purchases associated with the First Family. Unlike formal presidential correspondence or official documents, surviving household receipts offer an unusually intimate window into the routines and domestic life of Camelot-era Washington.
