Description
SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm. S# 68r. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1944. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "byf/ 44", as well as the S#, with x2 Mauser Eagle/WaA135 proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching save for the bbl., which is mis-matched. MAGS: x1 blued steel 8-rd. with Mauser Eagle/135 proof on spine. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original salt blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, as well as some light superficial handling marks overall. Grip strap has largely faded to gray patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting a couple scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show some light superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound.
