Traditional Soulava NECKLACE from Papua New Guinea's Milne Bay Province used in the Kula exchange system. It measures 6.5" Long x 6" Wide x 1" Thick. It is crafted from a crescent-shaped pearl disc decorated with beads, cowrie shells, and banana seeds. These necklaces circulate clockwise in the Kula ring as a ceremonial form of currency meant to establish social hierarchy and partnership, rather than for personal possession.
