Description
Yoshida Toshi (1911 - 1995) is considered one of Japan's premier 20th century woodblock printmakers. A third generation printmaker and painter, he started drawing at age three. Gaining renown before he entered his teens. From childhood on he traveled the world capturing the land, flora and fauna of nations across the globe. His work is in the permanent collections of the British Museum, Biblioteque Nationale Paris, National Gallery of Australia, Boston Art Museum, Minneapolis Art Center Modern, Chicago Art Institute, and the Tokyo National Institute of Art.
Entitled "Running Ostrich" this print portrays an ostrich flock transversing a broad savannah beneath a cloud strewn sky. This original woodblock was created and printed in the artist's studio post his death. Purchased by the prior owner at the Kanda Gallery in Tokyo sometime in the early 1990s. Includes original gallery sticker on the reverse. See photos for details.

With frame measures 11" high x 20.25" wide x 1" deep
In excellent vintage condition. Print itself displays no rips, tears, folds, creases, dirt, wear of any issue of note. The black painted wood frame. is also excellent vintage condition with minor wear commensurate with vintage age/use. Beveled gray linen mat. Glare free Glass. Includes original label on reverse. We have not removed the original backing. Therefore it may or may not have a signature, number, or inscription beneath the mat. In addition we cannot guarantee that the original framing materials are acid free. Nor that the glass protects against UV rays.
