Clover Leaf Creamery was a major regional milk distributor during the mid-1900s. These rugged wood-and-galvanized-steel boxes were engineered to handle the intense weight of glass milk bottles clinking together during delivery truck routes.

In the vintage market, crates with identifiable, charming slogans like "Famous for Purity" accompanied by their original green clover leaf graphics are highly sought after by farmhouse collectors. We are pleased to offer this piece in it's original, un-restored state with a beautiful aged patina and distressed wear. The wood bottom is structural sound.

Attribution: This crate most likely dates back to the 1950s or 1960s based on the interior Penco stamp.
While the company was founded in 1869 as "Penn Metal Corporation of Pennsylvania," it shortened its name to Penco Products in the 1950s. The use of wooden shipping crates by major manufacturers saw a significant decline starting in the late 1960s and 1970s as companies shifted toward lighter, more durable plastic containers for transport.
