Impressive large original canvas by French listed artist Lucien Delarue of Monmarte in winter with charming windmill.
Delarue is known internationally as an artist who faithfully captures the romantic moods of Paris. His famous subject of the ''Rooftops of Montmarte,'' along with other Paris scenes, compliment his romantic renderings of the South of France. In this large painting rooftops glisten through the foggy streets of Paris and a windmill is prominent, with a subtle color palette of grey, taupe, pink and blue. Lucien Delarue was born on November 10th, 1925 in Paris. He studied at the studios of Grande Chaumiere, Paris as a pupil of Maitre Yves Brayer and began taking part in exhibitions very early in his career, winning first prize and the Vermeil-Medaille at the Salon Violet. Delarue also received a gold medal at the Salon of Vincennes, a gold medal at the Salon of Clichy in 1973, a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1974 and a bronze medal at the "Arts-Sciences-Lettres" exhibition in Paris.
