The firearm shows an attractive age-related patina and overall signs of use and wear consistent with its age. The wood on the pump forearm has a missing section. The bore is dull in color, but the rifling remains defined.

The Colt Lightning was one of the most innovative repeating rifles of the late 19th century, manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company. Designed by William Mason, the Lightning series was Colts successful entry into the slide-action repeating rifle market and was produced in several frame sizes and calibers.
