This Ross Rifle Model 1905 is chambered in .303 British and features a 28-inch barrel with a 13.5-inch length of pull. The rifle is in functional mechanical condition and retains its straight-pull bolt action. It shows an age-related patina and normal signs of use and wear consistent with its age. The bore is in great condition. The rear sight assembly is currently stuck and not adjustable, and is missing a spring on the body as well as a spring on the leaf that provides tension; however, it remains firmly attached.
The Ross Rifle was developed in the early 20th century by Sir Charles Ross and manufactured in Canada by Ross Rifle Company. Initially adopted for military service, the Model 1905 represents one of the earliest production variants of the straight-pull Ross system, known for its innovative design and precision manufacturing. While later variants saw mixed military performance, early models such as this remain historically significant and collectible examples of Canadian military firearms development.
