This DOT marked G33/40 mountain carbine is chambered in 8mm Mauser and features a 19-inch barrel with a 13-inch length of pull. Manufactured in 1942, this example is in functional mechanical condition and retains its original military configuration. The rifle exhibits an age-related patina along with normal signs of use and wear consistent with service. The bore is in good condition. It features the distinctive Gebirgsjager (mountain troops) buttplate and hollow bolt handle design, along with Waffenamt markings and no import mark.
The G33/40 was a specialized mountain troop variant of the Mauser 98 system, produced for German Gebirgsjager units during World War II. Manufactured by Brno Arms Factory under German occupation using the DOT code, these carbines were designed to be lighter and more compact for alpine warfare. Their reduced weight and unique construction make them highly desirable among collectors of WWII German military arms.
