This Springfield Armory M1 Garand is chambered in .30-06 Springfield and features a receiver manufactured in 1942. As the standard U.S. service rifle of World War II, the M1 Garand is one of the most iconic military firearms ever produced and was famously described by General Patton as "the greatest battle implement ever devised."
This example retains its Springfield Armory receiver and is fitted with a Springfield Armory barrel dated June 1964 (SA 6-64), indicative of a post-war arsenal rebuild or refurbishment. Such rebuilds were common during the Garand's long service life and reflect the continued use of these rifles by the U.S. military after World War II. The combination of a wartime receiver and later Springfield barrel makes this an appealing piece of U.S. military history with strong collector and shooter interest. The bore is in good condition.
