This Japanese Type 99 Arisaka is chambered in 7.7 Japanese and represents a late-war production rifle manufactured during the closing years of World War II. As production demands increased, many rifles were simplified to speed manufacture, resulting in the distinctive late-war features collectors recognize today. This example retains its imperial chrysanthemum ("mum"), a highly desirable feature among Arisaka collectors, and is equipped with a simplified peep sight and wooden buttplate characteristic of late-war production.
The rifle is missing its magazine spring and follower, and the bolt is currently stuck inside the receiver. These condition issues are reflected in the overall presentation and may require inspection or repair. Despite these factors, the rifle remains an authentic late-war Type 99 with strong historical significance and collector appeal, particularly due to the presence of the intact mum. The bore is in good condition.
