This lot consists of three antique black powder muzzleloading firearms, including an Afghan Jezail-style flintlock musket and two decorated pistols. The musket is chambered in approximately .50 caliber black powder and features a 44-inch barrel with an 11-inch length of pull. The musket does not function and is being sold as a wall-hanger or display piece. Also included is a .50 caliber black powder pistol with a 13-inch barrel. This pistol does not function, is missing its trigger guard, and features ivory-looking decorative inlays throughout. The stock is loosely attached and will require repair. The third firearm is a similarly decorated pistol measuring approximately .66 caliber with an 8.75-inch barrel. Like the others, it is non-functional and offered as a display piece. All three pieces show wear, age, and patina consistent with antique black powder firearms. The bores are dull in color with age-related black powder corrosion and wear consistent with their age and use.
Decorated muzzleloading arms such as these were commonly produced throughout the Middle East, Central Asia, and surrounding regions during the 18th and 19th centuries. Afghan Jezail-style muskets are especially known for their long barrels, distinctive styling, and association with tribal and regional warfare. Antique pistols with decorative inlays remain popular among collectors of ethnographic arms, military antiques, and historical display pieces.
