This original German M40 Stahlhelm is a steel helmet shell featuring a faded Luftwaffe decal. The helmet no longer retains its liner or chinstrap and is offered as a shell-only example. The exterior shows age-related wear, patina, and surface aging consistent with its period of use and long-term storage.
The M40 Stahlhelm was introduced in 1940 as a wartime evolution of earlier German helmet designs and was widely used throughout World War II. Luftwaffe-marked examples were issued to personnel of the German air force and remain highly recognizable among collectors of WWII militaria. Original helmet shells with remaining insignia, even when worn or faded, are commonly collected for their historical association and display value.
