Description
This exceptional collection contains Soviet cultural ephemera and rare, early 19th-century Russian phonograph lecture notices. Featured are two original 1959 "USSR Exhibition New York" souvenir booklets detailing Soviet technological and industrialchievements, alongside a vintage "Soviet Theatre" promotional magazine showcasing performance arts. Accompanying these mid-century pieces is a unique, early Russian flexi-disc record titled (Moscow Nights), complete with its original sleeve, as well as two late 1800s illustrated postcards of Novogrod. Most notably for early audio historians, the lot features three incredibly rare 1890–1891 Imperial Russian printed invitations and notices for early phonograph demonstrations and public lectures held in Moscow, including events at the Historical Museum and the Private Italian Opera, featuring the stamp of J. Block (the pioneering importer of Edison phonographs to Russia). The collection displays minor edge wear, age-related paper browning, and light handling creases consistent with vintage paper goods, but remains in overall well-preserved and stable condition. H 11", W 8.5", D 1". See photos. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
