A smaller Lanier Meaders pitcher, dated 1991. This piece comes from an important late period in Lanier’s pottery career. By this time, Lanier had largely stopped making face jugs due to declining health and had shifted much of his focus to smaller pitcher forms. During this period, he had transitioned from wood firing to electric firing and had moved from his traditional kick wheel to an electric wheel set up in his kitchen. Even as his health declined, Lanier’s passion for pottery remained strong, and he continued making pottery until the very end. Signed.
