The 14-inch Satsuma ceramic vase is a striking example of Meiji-era Japanese craftsmanship, commanding attention with its flared rim and densely detailed imagery. Two women ride astride—rather than side saddle—vivid blue and pink horses, while nearby, a man kneels to play the flute beside a woman cradling a vase. In another scene, a man practices calligraphy as a woman holding a platter of bananas leans over his shoulder, observing intently. Every surface is richly embellished with raised enamel, floral motifs, and delicate gilding that speak to the precision and artistry of the period.

Complementing the vase are a pair of 9½- inch Satsuma China candlesticks and a 7¼-inch ceramic sphere, both executed with equal attention to detail. They feature gatherings of elegantly dressed aristocratic women, each figure rendered in fine brushwork and traditional attire. The final piece is a 12½- inch ceramic purse with a curved handle, its surface depicting one woman seated playing an instrument while another stands gracefully, shaded beneath an umbrella.
