This is an antique Smith & Egge "Little Comfort" cast iron sewing machine with chain drive, dating to around 1896. Designed as a compact hand-crank machine, it features solid cast iron construction, exposed chain drive mechanism, and original detailing to the base and working platform. A wonderful example of late 19th century sewing technology, well suited for collectors of antique sewing machines, industrial décor, or early domestic tools.
