Arabic Script Shi'a Religious Practices.
Beautiful handmade tribal carpet bag, often referred to as a chanted. The central purple panel features the Arabic phrase "Ya Allah", which is a common expression of devotion or a call for divine help.
These small woven bags are traditional items made by various nomadic and tribal groups, including Persian, Afghan, and Kurdish peoples. Historically, these bags were used to carry personal items like salt, mirrors or religious items, like this one.
Hand-woven using wool, often employing Kilim, (a flat weave), or pile carpet techniques.

Bag was purchased long ago 1970's while traveling Central Asia and its neighboring villages, stored since.
