Beautifully unique vintage huipil panel, pure art.
Originating from the Chichicastenango ( Chichi ) region of Guatemala. Huipiles from this area are famously recognized by their dense, expressive floral designs, like these blooming roses, rendered in vibrant jewel tones on a deep, dark background.
The specific "Mayan Chichi flowers" motif on a black background is a signature style from Chichicastenango. Similar patterns and colors were particularly common in textiles from the 1960's - 1980's. Both handwoven and embroidered this black background and muted rose colored rare textile is a collectors dream.

This textile was purchased while traveling 1970-1980's, and stored since. I did place the tape on the original tags so they wouldn't fall off, showing the Huipil is authentic.
