A well-executed mid-century oil on board in the manner of Carl Jutz the Elder, the Düsseldorf School master who defined 19th-century European poultry painting.

Commercially produced for the upper-tier department store market — think Bullock's Wilshire. Colloquially we cann them "factory paintings" but often these are genuinely well executed and impossible to fault. Bears a signature lower left we can't identify. The quality of the brush strokes and painting is undeniably superior although contemporary and not 19th century.

The frame warrants equal attention — a triple-profile giltwood with reeded gray-painted cove, beaded inner liner, and acanthus-leaf corner castings. Bole visible through worn gold leaf confirms oil gilding over composition gesso. Excellent condition with minor corner rubbing consistent with age.
