The pictures does not do this set justice. They are a beautiful ivory set in pristine condition. A delightful vintage Italian pot de creme service comprising eight lidded cups and a matching serving tray. Crafted in Italy and finished in a soft creamy ivory glaze, each cup is richly detailed with raised basketweave and floral motifs.
The designer had found a set like it in an antique shop in Northeast Harbor, Maine more than 20 years ago.. It was said that Martha Stewart who has a home in nearby Seal Harbor had already purchased it. The designer loved it so much she set out to find another set like it. Eventually she did and understands now why they are so sought after. This pot de creme set has been used for everything and then some!
It makes the most wonderful vase set serpentined along a dining table with small delicate flowers that don't block your view of your dinner partners. It has been used as a holder for small thin women's cosmetics on a dressing table. It is equally functional for cotton swabs in a bathroom, toothpicks on a serving tray, pens at a meeting and much more!
The richly detailed basketweave and floral motifs, topped with sculptural hand-applied rosebud finials and delicate leaves adds charm to wherever they go.
The set exudes charm and is equally lovely displayed in a china cabinet or open shelving when not in use. The intricate relief work and romantic floral details are so joyful. There are 8 pot de creme cups. 8 matching rosebud lids all in perfect condition. 1 coordinating tray.
