Description
Early 19th century (pre 1850) Duncan Phyfe Style
Double Pedestal Extending Dining Table
With 3 Leaves, with long wooden slides design
Phyfe took design notes from Chippendale, Hepplewhite and Sheraton and during that time customers leaned toward a heavy French design influence. Phyfe did not sign his furniture and had over 100 cabinet makers work under him in his direction.
The top has the character of use and fading of original stain. This table has a few well-done repairs to the top and the two pedestals have had newer metal brackets installed underneath to preserve the strength of the legs. The third leaf not pictured in the table is a bit darker than the table and the two leaves, indicating that they did not use that leaf very often and the table was most likely displayed for use in the home with the two leaves in it.
The feet have the original brass feet and wheels. The leaves have original bass hardware for leaf clips.
Table has a full set of table pads.
This table came out of an avid antique collectors estate in the Binghamton, NY area.
