(1874 - 1964) 34th President of the United States whose attempts to reverse the course of the Great Depression led to his defeat at the polls by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Partly-printed D.S. as President, 1p. oblong folio, Washington, Dec. 18, 1929, an appointment of Harvey D. Klingensmith as Postmaster at Grapeville, PA. Countersigned by Postmaster General WALTER F. BROWN (1869– 1961), who served under Hoover from 1929 to 1933. Handsomely matted in black and set into a black gilt-accented frame measuring 22 x 19 in. A scuff at bottom margin clear of Hoover’s signature, else very good condition.
