Description
(1745 - 1829) American politician and Adjutant General of the Continental Army, Secretary of War (1795) and Secretary of State (1795-1800). Good association A.N.S. as Secretary of War, 1p. 4to., [n.p.], June 10, 1795, to former Quartermaster General Samuel Hodgdon. In full: ‘I return Major Gibbs’s letter to you [not present]: and that you may see what are my ideas of your rights and his duty in the case, I inclose my letter to him on the Subject [not present], which after reading be pleased to seal and send to the post office.’ He signs ‘T. Pickering’ at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, slightly ragged at the bottom edge and toned at the edges overall, with a few spots of soiling, otherwise in very good overall condition.
