(1837-1899) American evangelist and publisher who founded the Moody Church, Moody Bible Institute and Moody Publishers, made two tours with Ira D. Sankey and was widely popular. Scarce T.L.S. on his 'The Bible Institute' letterhead, 1p. 4to., East Northfield, Apr. 11, 1898 to A.M. Canfield in Massachusetts. Moody sends a report on his 'Bible Institute for Home and Foreign Missions' with the hope that his correspondent will make a contribution. He notes that those contributing $5.00 will become 'sustaining members' and asks for the names of other potential contributors. Very good.
