Marek Janowski autographed The American Centennial March, a classical LP featuring the London Symphony Orchestra performing Richard Wagner’s The American Centennial March alongside a selection of the composer’s overtures and marches. Janowski has signed the reverse of the album jacket in blue ink.
Released by Angel Records, the album was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marek Janowski. The program includes Wagner’s American Centennial March, composed in 1876 to commemorate the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, as well as Huldigungsmarsch, Kaisermarsch, Die Feen Overture, and Das Liebesverbot Overture.
Overall good condition. The jacket displays light expected shelf and handling wear with minor edge and corner wear. The signature remains bold and well defined. Both vinyl records are included.
Marek Janowski (1939-2025) was a German conductor widely regarded as one of the foremost interpreters of the German Romantic repertoire, particularly the works of Richard Wagner, Anton Bruckner, and Richard Strauss. During a career spanning more than five decades, he served as music director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. Janowski was especially acclaimed for his complete Wagner opera cycles and numerous award-winning recordings, earning an international reputation for precision, clarity, and fidelity to the composer’s scores.
