Original pen and ink daily comic strip artwork by cartoonist Carl Ed (1901-1967) for his long-running syndicated comic Harold Teen. Executed on original artist’s board measuring approximately 20.5 x 6 inches, the four-panel daily strip is dated June 12, 1941 and features a humorous exchange centered around cigarettes and a briefcase reveal. The final panel bears the printed Carl Ed signature and is additionally inscribed, “Presented to Jimmy Hatlo - Best Regards,” followed by the artist’s signature.

Very good condition. Moderate age toning, scattered handling wear, light edge wear, and expected production wear consistent with original newspaper comic artwork. The artwork presents well with strong original pen and ink line work.

Carl Ed was an American cartoonist best known for creating the long-running newspaper comic strip Harold Teen. Debuting in 1919, the strip chronicled the adventures of Harold Teen and an ensemble cast of recurring characters, becoming one of the most widely syndicated and popular comic strips of its era. Ed’s work helped define the early humor strip format and remained a fixture in American newspapers for more than three decades.
