STS-32 commemorative First Day Cover autographed by four members of the mission crew: James D. Wetherbee, Bonnie J. Dunbar, Marsha S. Ivins, and G. David Low. Postmarked Washington, D.C., March 22, 1988, on the First Day of Issue for the Earth stamp, the cover commemorates STS-32, flown aboard Space Shuttle Columbia from January 9–20, 1990. The mission successfully deployed the Syncom IV-F5 communications satellite and retrieved the Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) after nearly six years in orbit, returning one of NASA’s most significant long-duration scientific experiments to Earth.

James D. Wetherbee (b. 1952) is a retired U.S. Navy captain and NASA astronaut who flew six Space Shuttle missions, commanding five of them, making him one of the Shuttle Program’s most experienced commanders.

Bonnie J. Dunbar (b. 1949) is a former NASA astronaut and engineer who flew five Space Shuttle missions, conducting pioneering research in materials science, life sciences, and microgravity.

Marsha S. Ivins (b. 1951) is a former NASA astronaut who flew five Space Shuttle missions, contributing to satellite deployment, Spacehab operations, and International Space Station assembly.

G. David Low (1956–2008) was a NASA astronaut and aerospace engineer who flew three Space Shuttle missions before serving in senior leadership roles supporting the development of future human spaceflight programs.
