Best known for his high-speed rocket sled tests at Holloman Air Force Base, Stapp endured deceleration forces exceeding 40 g while investigating the effects of rapid acceleration and impact on the human body. His research directly contributed to the development of modern aircraft restraint systems, ejection seat technology, shoulder harnesses, and automotive seat belt safety standards, earning him the nickname “the fastest man on Earth.”
